What a term it has been too. It has been so busy. There are so many new faces and returning faces to keep on track. I have to introduce them to the centre and the trade. I have been fortunate to work in this trade since 1986 and in FE since 2006.
Who have we welcomed to the centre?
- Full time students study the Level 1 Plumbing Diploma. Fresh faces embrace the introduction to the trade. The curriculum is fantastic and redeveloped to include everything they need. This helps develop their understanding and skills. It allows them to progress to a Level 2 Plumbing Technical Certificate or into an Apprenticeship within the Industry.
- Full time students who are returning from Level 1 have a curriculum developed to offer them opportunities. They can further develop the existing skills achieved at Level 1. Some direct entrants enter straight into Level 2. They have a bespoke program to make sure the core skills are developed within the first half term/term 1.

- Brand new this year at the college, was the reintroduction of the Advanced Diploma Level 3 in Plumbing Studies. A brand new curriculum design was introduced. Custom-made training packs were created for the program. Websites were designed to cover the required topics. Additionally, class websites and pages were created.

- Continuation of the Level 3 Plumbing & Heating apprenticeship standard with either the gas pathway or the environmental technologies pathway. Magnificent resources and support have been developed for this apprenticeship standard. Each pathway has again, access to the http://www.halledu.co.uk website and bespoke sites for the pathways.

- Low Carbon Heating Technician, apprenticeship standard just continues to grow and become more popular. We now have two groups of low carbon apprentices. They study the content that has been developed to meet the employers’ requirements. The content also addresses the needs of the industry. All content meets the duties and the knowledge, skills and behaviours to enable the students to meet the requirements. This course too has a bespoke website and access to http://www.halledu.co.uk to assist the students in and out of college.

This is just a small part of the work. You can see it above. It has gone into the curriculum design. There is also significant effort in resources creation at the centre.
We are on target to achieve the best possible outcomes for all of our students. This applies no matter which level they are studying. The commitment to excellence in the creation and delivery of the curriculum is forever evolving.
I am looking ahead to term 2. I also expect the further development of all of our students. We will finish some apprentices and prepare them for their End Point Assessment. This is to fully finish their apprenticeship.
