Enhancing Low Carbon Heating Apprenticeship with Digital Platform and Employer Collaboration

I introduced and presented to regional employers the details of the evening. Images and details can be seen below.

A presentation was given to employers to outline the requirements of the LCHT (low carbon heating apprenticeship), detailing the range of work that is required to be covered.

All employers were shown the PTP (practical training period) -work packs, which have been devised to support the apprentices gain the KSB’s (knowledge-skills-behaviours) that are required to progress and meet the 10 duties laid out by the employer group who wrote the standard. In addition there has been substantial development on the digital skills required to become a low carbon heating installer, this means that not only will the apprentices be guided in the practical workshop and classroom but have access to up to date online resources, supported by our stakeholders who have all been involved in the curriculum development.

Below are screenshots of some ideas that will feature on the digital platform for the apprentices to record their on-site journey and be able to map their KSB’s as they present and upload evidence via the slide deck, which allows the apprentice to add multimedia content and it is mobile and easy to access from anywhere they may be working.

Image above has the 26 knowledge sections, 15 skills and 6 behaviours, all apprentices have access to what all the KSB’s contain via the digital platform so they can upload and then map the evidence by highlighting what they feel they have evidenced on each slide.

The image above is a list of how the apprentice feels that they have evidenced the KSB’s from The first image. These events are we believe key to making this apprenticeship a success, with the help of the industry specialist, the experts in their field and the experience of the education staff who are able to package the expertise into a curriculum. We are very excited to be involved in this apprenticeship, if you need any advice on the apprenticeship or are looking to attend our next event, then please contact jennie.furzer@boltoncc.ac.uk
